These terms cover the course and the certificate. Using the site means accepting them.

The course is free. There is nothing to buy, no subscription, and no payment details are ever asked for, so there is nothing to refund either.

Your account

One account per person, and the name on it should be your own, because that is the name that gets printed on any certificate you earn. Keep the password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

How exercises are graded

Exercises are graded on a number you compute by running the code yourself. Sharing answers defeats the only mechanism that makes the certificate worth anything, so accounts found circulating answer keys can be closed.

What the certificate means

A certificate from freefemia.org states that the person named completed the graded exercises and passed the final examination on the date shown. That is its entire claim.

It is not a degree, and freefemia.org is not accredited by any government or accreditation body. Nobody is obliged to recognise it. We say so here because a credential that overstates itself is worse than no credential.

Revocation

A certificate can be revoked if it was obtained by fraud, including submitting someone else's work or using another person's account. Revoked certificates stay on the register and show as revoked when checked, rather than disappearing.

Course materials

Lessons, exercises and their solutions are for your own study. You may keep the code you write and use it however you like, including at work. You may not republish the course material or resell it.

FreeFEM, PyTorch and the other tools the course uses belong to their own authors and carry their own licences.

Availability

The site is run by the professors who wrote the course and may be unavailable for maintenance or because something broke. Issued certificates remain verifiable regardless.

Changes

These terms may change, and the date at the top will change with them. Certificates already issued are governed by the terms in force when they were issued.
